WISH and Updated Funding Source Statistics

06/01/2017

Statistical considerations for Shelters/Transition Houses in BC and Ontario

Recently some of the funder sources in the provinces have changed their statistical requests. In speaking with many of you I felt that I would try to summarize some of the changes that you may want to consider within WISH.

British Columbia

·      ·    If you are receive funding from BC Housing the statistical forms have changed from last year. There are a few additional stats that are being requested and other changes. To top it off, the ordering of the answers has changed, so the best approach is to modify the coding in WISH so that it matches the same order and coding on the BC Housing form. To make this simpler, I have built a utility that I can run with you to script these changes. If you want to take this approach, then first make sure that your IT team has downloaded and installed WISH version 3.5.02a which has this funtionality built into our private Support Utilities, and then give us a call to arrange a suitable time with our support department. Of course, you can make these modification without needing to contact us. Lastly, there are a couple of minor alterations that you will need to make to your INTAKE and DISCHARGE form.

·      ·    If you receive funding from the Ministry of Justice , we added some additional statistical elements to help collect the stats that you are being asked to report. Ensure that you IT team has installed WISH 3.5.02 or higher and then have a look at the new statistical elements for Group (GR;) and Time Log (PR;) which pertain to ClientCount_P# and ClientCount_Q#. These statistical data elements will be used to specifically report the number of Clients in the GENERAL PROGRAM SERVICE section of your stat reports.

Ontario

·      ·    If you are receiving funding from MCSS then the changes this year are fairly minimal. You should study the changes for yourself, but a general overview is:

-ABORG, changed to INDIGEN (Aboriginal changed to Indigenous) - Formula remains unchanged
-All of the REF stats (previously optional) have been dropped.
-INTINPERA and INTINPERB - In person interactions dropped.

·      ·    If you receive funding from Ministry of Attorney General specifically for the Sexual Assault Centre you will need to ensure that your IT team has downloaded and installed WISH 3.5.02 or higher and then you can repoet the number of unique clients accessing individual counselling in the quarter by using the new Data Elements for Time Logs (PR;) ClientCount_Q#.

Of course, for assistance with modifying your WISH formulas, contact our support department.
